ACT 105 - Personal Accounting & Finance 3 Credit(s)
Overview of practical business procedures, covering banking procedures (ATM, statements), investment matters, budgeting, insurance, payroll and associated taxes, interest, marketing and other economic issues, and other areas important to economic survival in a highly sophisticated business environment.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain the power of the time value of money in relation to credit, debt, saving and investing and how these can impact them personally.
CLO 2) Students will recall the consequences of borrowing money via student and consumer debt.
CLO 3) Students will articulate the importance, purpose and value of insurance.
CLO 4) Students will study the importance of a budget and complete a budget for themselves.
CLO 5) Students will demonstrate an understanding of income taxes including deductions, exemptions and taxable income.
CLO 6) Students will describe the differences between owning versus renting or leasing (a vehicle or home) and explain the costs and benefits of each scenario.
