AGR 110 - Introductory Forestry 3 Credit(s)
This course is an introduction to forestry science. Students will engage in coursework, hands-on labs, and field work related to species identification, timber management, and wildlife habitat. Additionally, students will be introduces to economic, sociological, environmental, commercial, and political factors that influence the management of both domestic and international forest resources.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will identify major historical and ecological drivers behind forestry in the United States.
CLO 2) Students will demonstrate basic forest measurements and sampling.
CLO 3) Students will explain concepts of forest stand dynamics, particularly with regard to site quality.
CLO 4) Students will demonstrate concepts of silviculture as it pertains to reproduction, intermediate management and wildlife habitat management.
CLO 5) Students will identify major Missouri tree species and habitats in which they reside.
