ART 2930 - Gallery Management Internship 3 Credit(s)
Basic processes and procedures of curating a fine art exhibition and managing exhibition space. Explore SCC’s community art venue from a behind-the-scenes perspective while developing an understanding of the responsibilities of managing, funding, and maintaining exhibition space. Participation in installation and planning of SCC Gallery exhibitions. Field trips to Art Galleries & Art Museums.
Prereqs: Instructor permission Course Type: Practicum Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will develop an understanding of the concept of an exhibition.
CLO 2) Students will develop an awareness of issues of presentation, craftmanship, and placement.
CLO 3) Students will explore the concepts of different exhibition spaces within our community and how they are funded and managed.
CLO 4) Students will acquire experience in planning, designing, and promoting an art exhibition.
CLO 5) Students will participate in the process of art-handling, curation and installation of an art exhibition.
CLO 6) Students will participate in the practical preparation and maintenance of a gallery space through the different phases of the exhibition.
