Focus on importance of communication competence in a variety of situations. Topics include verbal and nonverbal communication, listening, perception, self-concept, small group communication, and public speaking. Students required to prepare and present three to four graded oral presentations.

CLO 2) Students will describe how self-concept, self-awareness, and self-disclosure influence communication and personal growth.
CLO 3) Students will explain how perception affects communication, including how we perceive others and how others perceive us.
CLO 4) Students will differentiate between hearing and listening and recognize techniques for improving various types of listening.
CLO 5) Students will apply verbal and nonverbal communication strategies to improve clarity, reduce distortion, and adapt messages across cultural contexts.
CLO 6) Students will demonstrate public speaking techniques, including audience analysis, message construction, and delivery using verbal and nonverbal communication.
