HIM 110 - Medical Terminology 3 Credit(s)
Introduction to medical terminology focusing on building anatomical and pathophysiologic terms through identification and interpretation of Latin and Greek roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Pronunciation, spelling, and transcribing basic terms relating to body systems, medical specialties, and common diseases.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will be able to define medical terms in every chapter via application assignment and chapter quizzes.
CLO 2) Students will analyze prefixes, suffixes, combining forms and word roots to determine the meaning of terms by completing application assignments and quizzes for every chapter (body system).
CLO 3) Student will demonstrate ability to appropriately pronunce and spell medical terminology.
CLO 4) Students will examine medical reports and complete application assignments for each body system to demonstrate proper usage, meaning, and identification of medical terminology and vocabulary.
CLO 5) Student will specify appropriate medical terms to common diseases, conditions and syndromes by completing application assignments for each chapter (body system).
CLO 6) Students will categorize medical terms and phrases by anatomical systems by completing application assignments and quizzes for each chapter (body system).
