MAT 096 - Pre-Algebra

Topics include: signed numbers, algebraic expressions, linear equations, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percent, area, perimeter, volume, Pythagorean Theorem, conversions, graphing points and linear equations, and applications of Pre-Algebra topics. This is a pass/fail course. This course does not count toward graduation.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will perform operations on integers, fractions, and decimal numbers.
CLO 2) Students will solve linear equations and their applications.
CLO 3) Students will evaluate and simplify algebraic expressions.
CLO 4) Students will solve application problems involving ratios, proportions, percentages, the Pythagorean Theorem, area, perimeter, and unit conversions.
CLO 5) Students will convert between percent, fraction, and decimal notations.
CLO 6) Students will construct graphs of linear equations using at least two points on the line.
CLO 7) Students will demonstrate strong student skills by participating in class regularly, completing coursework to proficiency, and demonstrating a growth mindset.
