ART 2410 - Painting II 3 Credit(s)
Studio course where students work with paint to represent subject matter, broaden techniques learned in ART 2410, develop personal expression and participate in critique sessions. Paint density, texture and chemistry will be discussed. Painting demonstrations are designed to help each student understand the objective of the assignments. Students will prepare their own painting surfaces in order to learn and appreciate the craft involved with the entire process of creating a finished work of art.
Prereqs: ART 2400 with a grade of C or better Course Type: Studio/Performance Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will continue to build their knowledge of and apply traditional painting techniques which include space, volume, value, color, and composition.
CLO 2) Students will produce paintings using a variety of traditional painting materials such as oil paint, brushes, canvas, solvents, and paint mediums.
CLO 3) Students will determine the content of their artwork in concert with their instructor.
CLO 4) Students will demonstrate their ability to ascertain and describe a variety of qualities in paintings during a critique session using art terminology.
CLO 5) Students will identify and differentiate between important artists and artistic styles found in Western Art.
CLO 6) Students will demonstrate the ability to present artwork professionally.
