ART 2500 - Ceramics I 3 Credit(s)
A study of the basic principles of ceramics and ceramic art making with emphasis on the hand-building process and introduction to wheel throwing. Studio operations such as clay mixing, clay recycling, glaze mixing and kiln loading will also be covered.
Prereqs: ART 1300 with a grade of C or better Course Type: Studio/Performance Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote CORE42 MOTR Number - Name: MOTR PERF 105C - Studio Art - Ceramics Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply basic ceramics techniques to make hand-built, coil, slab, pinch and press mold pottery.
CLO 2) Students will apply the pottery techniques involved with throwing forms on the pottery wheel.
CLO 3) Students will mix and apply shop glazes.
CLO 4) Students will identify the terminology of the technical aspects of ceramics and contemporary and historical ceramic forms.
CLO 5) Students will be able to identify strengths and shortcomings within their work while offering meaningful constructive feedback to peers in the critique setting.
CLO 6) Students will apply safe working practices and participate in actively maintaining a shared studio space.
