MAT 098 - Beginning Algebra 4 Credit(s)
Topics include: simplifying expressions; linear equations and inequalities; graphs of linear equations; writing equations of lines; integer exponent rules; scientific notation; operations on polynomials and rational expressions; factoring; solving quadratic equations by factoring; rational equations; complex fractions; and related applications This course does not count toward graduation.
Prereqs: MAT 096 with a grade of P (pass) or placement into MAT 098 Course Type: Lecture Delivery Method: In-Person, Online, Remote, Hybrid Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will solve rational expressions and quadratic equations.
CLO 2) Students will solve linear equations and inequalities.
CLO 3) Students will show the relationship between the equation of a line and its graph.
CLO 4) Students will simplify expressions using rules for integer exponents including scientific notations.
CLO 5) Students will simply polynomial and rational expressions including complex fractions.
