MAT 097 - Beginning Algebra With Corequisite Pre Algebra

This beginning algebra course is designed for first-time math students who placed into MAT 096  but were close to the borderline placement of MAT 098 . This course is designed for students who want to complete developmental math coursework in one semester.

Prereqs: Placement into MAT 096 .

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will solve linear equations and inequalities.
CLO 2) Students will construct linear equations and their graphs.
CLO 3) Students will simplify expressions using order of operations and rules for integer exponents including scientific notations.
CLO 4) Students will factor polynomials, including all special product forms.
CLO 5) Students will perform operations on polynomial and rational expressions including complex fractions.
CLO 6) Students will solve quadratic equations (by factoring) and rational equations.
CLO 7) Students will solve application problems.
