MAT 157 - College Statistics- General Education 4 Credit(s)
This course satisfies the general education requirement for the AA degree. Topics include constructing and interpreting graphs, descriptive statistics, sampling techniques, counting techniques, probability, probability distributions, confidence interval estimates, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and ANOVA. Students may not receive credit for both MAT 157 and MAT 175 . This course is recommended for non-STEM majors.
Prereqs: MAT 121 with a grade of C or better or placement into MAT 155 . MAT 097 or MAT 098 orMAT 105 with a grade of A. Students with a grade of “B” or “C” in MAT 097 or MAT 098 or MAT 105 or placement into MAT 121 , may enroll in MAT 057 with the corresponding supplemental course of MAT 057 with the same instructor. Students requiring the supplemental course of MAT 057 are required to contact Academic Advising for assistance with registering online. CLO 3) Students will use probability concepts.
CLO 4) Students will use statistical models to draw conclusions from data.
CLO 5) Students will use simple linear regression to model the relationship between two continuous variables and to draw conclusions from data.
