BUS 101 - Introduction to Business 3 Credit(s)
Survey course covering many facets of business; a general knowledge of the modern business environment. Review of economic, social, legal and ethical systems affecting U.S. firms. General concepts of business organization, management, people aspects of business, together with functions of production, marketing (including international), accounting, finance, computers, and information systems.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Online, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will define and apply key business vocabulary and concepts across functional areas of business.
CLO 2) Students will compare major economic systems and forms of business ownership, and explain how entrepreneurship functions within them.
CLO 3) Students will explain the ethical, legal, and global considerations that influence business decisions and operations.
CLO 4) Students will describe the core functions of management and key theories of motivation that impact organizational effectiveness.
CLO 5) Students will apply marketing principles, including the elements of the marketing mix, to real-world business scenarios.
CLO 6) Students will interpret basic financial information and explain how businesses manage funds, including through financial statements, financing methods, and the role of the U.S. monetary system.
