CPM 180 - Digital Audio Editing (Adobe Audition)

Through this course, students are taught the techniques needed to edit audio efficiently and creatively, enhance video soundtracks, and crat inspired music using the most popular current audio editing software. Students will learn to perform audio tasks like editing, audio restoration, file import/export, multitrack recording, mixing, film audio post-production, and mastering. Computer literacy, including the understanding of file formats, file structure, and file storage, are required.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will configure computer and audio system and navigate the Waveform Editor and Multitrack Editor.
CLO 2) Students will apply precise processes and techniques such as cut, copy, paste, mix, and silence trim, and fade, transition, loop, etc.
CLO 3) Students will fix tonal balance, alter dynamics, add ambience, implement single effects or use the Effects Rack.
CLO 4) Students will restore audio by reducing hiss, hum, clicks, pops and removing artifacts based on amplitude, time, and frequency
CLO 5) Students will refine audio experience by applying EQ, dynamics, waveform editing, and widening.
CLO 6) Students will share and link assets between audio and video editing software.
