CPT 115 - Introduction to Information Technology

Introduction to computer systems covering system components, data representation and storage techniques, binary arithmetic, operating systems, and device characteristics. The course also examines the impact of technology, including AI systems, on daily lives and prepares students for technology-reliant careers.

CLO 1) Students will identify how computers can and do affect daily lives.

CLO 2) Students will differentiate how data appears, is stored and processed.

CLO 5) Students will prepare for careers that will require an understanding of the computer, even if that job is not in Information Technology.

CLO 6) Students will explore current AI systems to maximize their utility and minimize their limitations.
