CLO 1) Students will evaluate biological, psychological, and sociological theories related to the causes and progression of addiction.
CLO 2) Students will explain the historical development and societal impact of substance abuse in the United States.
CLO 3) Students will interpret classifications, categories, and common names of frequently abused substances and their addictive properties.
CLO 4) Students will describe the signs, symptoms, and diagnostic criteria associated with substance use disorders, based on current clinical standards (e.g., DSM-5).
CLO 5) Students will examine various prevention and treatment strategies used in addressing substance abuse, including intervention models and recovery support systems.
CLO 6) Students will assess ethical standards and professional responsibilities relevant to working in addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
