CLO 1) Students will identify and describe key terms, concepts, and foundational principles related to substance use, abuse, treatment modalities, prevention strategies, and policy development.
CLO 2) Students will analyze and utilize current research and information sources related to substance abuse prevention, treatment methods, policy options, and enforcement strategies.
CLO 3) Students will construct and defend arguments on key issues surrounding public policy debates related to substance abuse in the United States.
CLO 4) Students will explain patterns and stages of substance abuse as they relate to the individual life cycle, considering developmental, social, and environmental influences.
CLO 5) Students will describe the physiological effects of drug use and addiction on body systems, organs, and overall health functioning.
CLO 6) Students will evaluate primary and secondary prevention strategies as applied by social institutions, criminal justice systems, and correctional programs in addressing substance abuse.
