CRJ 211 - Introduction to Victimology

This course explores the impact of crime on victims, with an emphasis on the historical development, theoretical perspectives, and policy responses related to victimization. Students will examine victim-offender relationships, victim rights, restorative justice, and the role of the criminal justice system in responding to victims of crime. Special attention is given to vulnerable populations, trauma-informed practices, and current legislation impacting victim services.

CLO 1) Students will define key terms and concepts related to victimology, including victimization, victim rights, and the criminal justice system’s response to victims.

CLO 3) Students will analyze the psychological, emotional, and financial impacts of crime on victims, families, and communities.
