Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will explain the sources, purposes, and classifications of criminal law within the U.S. legal system.
CLO 2) Students will identify the elements of major crimes (e.g., homicide, robbery, burglary) and distinguish between substantive and procedural law.
CLO 3) Students will analyze constitutional protections afforded to individuals during criminal investigations, including rights under the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendments.
CLO 4) Students will apply legal concepts to fact patterns involving arrest, search and seizure, interrogation, and due process.
CLO 5) Students will evaluate court rulings and legal precedents to determine their impact on criminal justice procedures and defendant rights.
CLO 6) Students will construct legal arguments or briefs that demonstrate an understanding of criminal statutes, procedural rules, and case law.
