Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will describe the structure, functions, and foundational principles of the U.S. Constitution, including separation of powers and federalism.
CLO 2) Students will identify and explain key constitutional amendments, particularly those related to criminal justice, civil liberties, and civil rights.
CLO 3) Students will analyze landmark Supreme Court decisions and their impact on constitutional interpretation and public policy.
CLO 4) Students will evaluate the balance between individual rights and governmental powers in areas such as search and seizure, due process, equal protection, and freedom of speech.
CLO 5) Students will compare judicial philosophies such as originalism, textualism, and living constitutionalism and their influence on constitutional interpretation.
CLO 6) Students will construct legal arguments or case briefs using constitutional principles, precedent, and judicial reasoning.
