Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will define key concepts and terminology related to crisis intervention, including crisis types, phases, and common psychological responses.
CLO 2) Students will describe the roles and responsibilities of professionals in responding to individuals in crisis, including first responders, counselors, and victim advocates.
CLO 3) Students will identify and assess various types of crises, such as domestic violence, suicide risk, natural disasters, and mass casualty events.
CLO 4) Students will apply appropriate intervention techniques and communication strategies to simulated crisis scenarios, emphasizing safety, de-escalation, and referral.)
CLO 5) Students will evaluate the effectiveness of different crisis response models, including psychological first aid, trauma-informed care, and community-based intervention systems.
CLO 6) Students will develop an individualized or community-based crisis response plan incorporating legal, ethical, and culturally competent practices.
