Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will explain the historical development, philosophy, and goals of probation, parole, and community corrections within the U.S. criminal justice system.
CLO 2) Students will distinguish between probation, parole, and other forms of community-based supervision in terms of function, legal authority, and procedures.
CLO 3) Students will describe the roles, responsibilities, and challenges faced by probation and parole officers in supervising offenders and protecting public safety.
CLO 4) Students will apply legal and procedural principles to case management scenarios, including risk assessment, supervision strategies, and violation responses.
CLO 5) Students will evaluate the effectiveness of various community corrections models and programs in reducing recidivism and supporting offender rehabilitation.
CLO 6) Students will develop supervision plans that incorporate evidence-based practices, offender needs, and appropriate community resources.
