Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will describe the philosophy, history, and evolution of community policing as a model for modern law enforcement.
CLO 2) Students will explain the principles of community engagement, problem-solving, and partnership development central to effective community policing.
CLO 3) Students will analyze the role of police-community relationships in building trust, preventing crime, and enhancing public safety.
CLO 4) Students will identify common barriers to effective community policing, including cultural misunderstandings, historical tensions, and resource limitations.
CLO 5) Students will evaluate the effectiveness of community policing initiatives and strategies, including neighborhood patrols, youth programs, and collaborative problem-solving models.
CLO 6) Students will develop a community policing strategy or initiative that incorporates stakeholder input, cultural competency, and evidence-based practices.
