EDU 101 - Introduction to Teacher Education 1 Credit(s)
This course introduces students to the field of education and provides practical experience in PK-12 classrooms. Students will explore the realities of daily teacher preparation, including state standards for teacher candidates and PK-12 students, lesson plan development, educational policy, and Missouri’s degree and certification requirements. To successfully complete EDU 101, students must pass a criminal background check (required before entering PK-12 schools), join the state and local chapter of MSTA, and complete 4 hours of observation in a PK-12 classroom.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will analyze personal characteristics and requirements of the teaching profession to determine if teaching is an appropriate career choice.
CLO 2) Students will apply concepts of effective teaching and personal dispositions through fieldwork observation.
