ETC 125 - Introduction to Digital Systems 3 Credit(s)
This course provides the student with a basic understanding of digital systems through the use of programmable logic controllers. The student will explore fundamental properties of digital logic controllers, digital control components and systems. Students also will analyze and develop basic control systems solutions, using logic controller simulation software to configure and test systems.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will analyze fundamental concepts of digital control components used in industrial automation.
CLO 2) Students will explain the function of electrical interfaces in electronic and electromechanical systems.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate understanding of Boolean logic and its application in control systems.
CLO 4) Students will develop basic control system solutions using ladder logic and structured programming.
CLO 5) Students will build and configure PLC systems using input/output modules and simulation software.
CLO 6) Students will interpret system diagrams and PLC logic to evaluate lab-based control system performance.
