ETC 210 - Industrial Electricity 3 Credit(s)
This course covers fundamental DC and AC electricity concepts as applied to industrial control systems. Electrical quantities, measurements and circuit characteristics/configurations will be introduced. DC, Single Phase and 3 Phase AC will be addressed along with transformers and inductance as related to motor control applications.
Prereqs: ETC 103 with a grade of C or better Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will analyze the generation and characteristics of DC and AC power systems, calculate energy consumption, and evaluate cost-related factors for practical applications.
CLO 2) Students will identify hot, neutral, and ground terminals in AC outlets, and explain transformer operation from primary to secondary windings.
CLO 3) Students will discuss the principles of three-phase power generation, and solve problems involving balanced wye and delta configurations with resistive loads.
CLO 4) Students will calculate impedance in AC circuits with inductive or capacitive components, and interpret its effect on circuit performance.
CLO 5) Students will apply electrical instrumentation to measure RC and RL circuit values, and compare measured results with theoretical predictions.
CLO 6) Students will integrate knowledge of electrical systems to analyze practical scenarios in residential and industrial environments.
