EXS 100 - Introduction to Exercise Science 3 Credit(s)
Introductory course that will provide a general overview of the key theories and concepts, professions, educational pathways, career options, and research areas associated with the field of Exercise Science.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will evaluate scientific evidence-based practice and its importance to practitioners in the field.
CLO 2) Students will recognize the basic physiological responses and adaptations to a given exercise.
CLO 3) Students will analyze human movement using a fundamental understanding of biomechanics.
CLO 4) Students will identify the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying movement and the variables that affect motor behavior changes over the lifespan.
CLO 5) Students will explain theories of motivation and behavior change to solve exercise adoption and adherence problems.
CLO 6) Students will explain the role of exercise in mental health.
