Beginning French course that presents basic language skills of speaking, listening comprehension, reading and writing, with emphasis on effective linguistic functioning in real situations. Includes culture unit on Paris. Opportunity for audio-lingual practice outside of class is provided.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will demonstrate appropriate responses to greetings, introductions, commands, requests, and questions in culturally relevant ways.
CLO 2) Students will recognize and use regular -er and -re verbs and common irregular verbs (e.g., aller, avoir, être, faire) in the present and near future tenses.
CLO 3) Students will identify vocabulary used to describe people, daily activities, classroom objects, university studies, and urban/commercial locations.
CLO 4) Students wil construct simple French sentences using correct agreement of pronouns, articles, adjectives, adverbs, and verbs.
CLO 5) Students will describe key aspects of Metropolitan French geography and culture.
