HIM 251 - Medical Billing/Coding Clinical 2 Credit(s)
Supervised learning experience in a health care facility and/or virtual lab setting enabling the student to apply skills in basic billing and coding procedures and practices. Emphasis is on students achieving entry-level proficiency in billing and coding medical records and physicians office diagnoses and procedures, and the application of policies, standards and guidelines.
Course Type: Combo Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will evaluate medical record information for purposes of applying appropriate medical codes for reimbursement.
CLO 2) Students will interpret established coding guidelines when selecting medical codes for reimbursement.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate the ability to perform in a work setting in a professional manner.
CLO 4) Students will organize and prioritize tasks in accordance with office/work setting policies.
