MAT 240 - Calculus & Analytic Geometry III 5 Credit(s)
Third course in sequence of three recommended for mathematics, computer science, physical science, or engineering majors. Topics include calculus of vectors in two or three dimensions, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, and their applications; and introductory topics from differential equations.
Prereqs: MAT 230 with a grade of C or better Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote, Flex Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will write equations of lines and planes in space.
CLO 2) Students will graph quadric surfaces.
CLO 3) Students will analyze the motion of a projectile along a curve.
CLO 4) Students will calculate the length of a curve on an interval and its curvature at a point.
CLO 5) Students will use limits to determine the continuity of a function of two or more variables.
CLO 6) Students will use first and second partial derivatives to find extrema and saddle points of a function.
CLO 7) Students will calculate directional derivatives and the gradient of a function.
CLO 8) Students will evaluate double, triple, line, and surface integrals.
CLO 9) Students will use the Jacobian to change variables in multiple integrals.
CLO 10) Students will apply the theorems of Green, Gauss, and Stokes.
