MFG 141 - Principles of Green Production **

Introduction to the sustainability principles of “green” production, defined as workplace activities across all industries within the manufacturing sector that require the use of equipment, technologies, and processes to improve the environmental performance of manufacturing companies. Students will have an opportunity to sit for the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council Safety module certification test for an additional fee. Students will be awarded the certificate if successful on the exam.

CLO 1) Students will conduct a basic investigation that includes identifying near misses and explain the critical role of “root cause” analysis.
CLO 2) Students will explain how to identify, report and document conditions that present a threat to the environment.
CLO 3) Students will explain how to use designated equipment to monitor, measure, and handle advanced materials.
CLO 4) Students will explain environmental policies and procedures that are communicated and posted.
CLO 5) Students will explain “green” manufacturing and the importance of worker training in new green trends and the impact on production workers.
CLO 6) Students will explain the connections between production and the environment through each stage.
