MFG 240 - Basic Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Presents basic principles used in the design and implementation in a computer integrated manufacturing system. Emphasizes team concept and all aspects of a computer integrated manufacturing system to include the following: Robotics, Conveyor Control, Machining Center Integration Quality Control, Statistical Quality Control, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Software.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will examine relay logic diagrams and electrical symbols to understand control system operations.

CLO 2) Students will translate relay logic into programmable logic controller (PLC) ladder logic for automation tasks.

CLO 3) Students will create ladder logic programs using structured data types such as counters and timers.

CLO 4) Students will demonstrate knowledge of digital logic, including Boolean math and logic gates, in PLC applications.

CLO 5) Students will troubleshoot PLC programs and network communications across various transfer protocols.

CLO 6) Students will build a functioning PLC trainer system to perform a specified task and present its operation.
