MUS 259 - Music Theater Workshop 1 Credit(s)
This course will provide the student with the skills needed to successfully learn and perform in a musical theatre setting. The areas to be covered include acting, movement, musicianship, artistic interpretation, and role preparation. Technique will be discussed as necessary, but that is mainly reserved for students’ primary voice teacher. Offered in Spring only. May be repeated to meet the multi-term degree requirements.
Course Type: Studio/Performance Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will audition and perform musical theatre pieces by selecting appropriate music, acting expressively, and adjusting to various presentational styles across musical periods.
CLO 2) Students will analyze musical theatre songs by interpreting lyrics for content and examining musical phrasing to inform performance choices.
