PHE 210 - First Aid/Safety

Prepares students to respond to emergencies. Covers skills in basic life support, airway obstruction, control bleeding, shock management, splinting and providing care to responsive and unresponsive individuals. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is awarded if the student successfully passes the written exams and practical skills.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will recognize when an emergency exists and demonstrate how to take appropriate action.
CLO 2) Students will identify signs and symptoms of life-threatening emergencies.
CLO 3) Students will show with proper technique how to care for life-threatening emergencies and pass a nationally-recognized certifying exam (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
CLO 4) Students will distinguish among the different types of soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries and simulate appropriate treatment.
