PHE 275 - Sport & Exercise Psychology 3 Credit(s)
An overview of sport and exercise psychology that bridges the gap between research and practice. Focus is on the fundamental principles of professional practice to provide an understanding of psychological issues affecting performance and how to use or apply sport and exercise psychology knowledge to various situational aspects.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will recognize the role of sport and exercise psychology in human development.
CLO 2) Students will describe how personality, motivation and aspects of arousal, stress and anxiety affect performance.
CLO 3) Students will discuss sport and exercise environment’s role in competition, cooperation, feedback, reinforcement and motivation.
CLO 4) Students will apply the principles of dynamics, cohesion, leadership and communication to group processes.
CLO 5) Students will explain the role psychology has on performance related to arousal, imagery, self-confidence, goal setting and concentration.
CLO 6) Students will describe how sport psychology enhances health and well-being.
