PSY 201 - Child Psychology 3 Credit(s)
Study of human development from conception to adolescence, emphasizing both current and historical approaches to research and theory, genetic and environmental influences on development, and the sequence and timing of physical, mental, and personality development throughout the years of childhood.
Prereqs: PSY 101 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will analyze the biological, cognitive and social factors that interact in the development of the child.
CLO 2) Students will discuss how classic and contemporary developmental theories and research developed to describe and explain child development.
CLO 3) Students will assess the interplay of nature and nurture and that impact across childhood and the adolescent years.
CLO 4) Students will apply developmental concepts to real life situations through case study analysis.
CLO 5) Students will synthesize how contextual issues–including age, gender, culture, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity–broaden our understanding of human development, and integrate insights from multidisciplinary nature of human development to enhance this understanding.
