PSY 215 - Adolescent Psychology 3 Credit(s)
Introduction to physical, mental, personality and social developments unique to adolescence. Focus mainly on factors influencing normal development, but some abnormal behaviors discussed. Biological, psychological, cultural, and historical perspectives considered.
Prereqs: PSY 101 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will summarize and explain the major theories of adolescent development (e.g., behavioral social-emotional, cognitive).
CLO 2) Students will identify biological, cognitive, emotional and social transitions that occur during adolescence.
CLO 3) Students will describe and analyze the role of key ecosystems including family, peers, schools, media and employment on adolescent development.
CLO 4) Students will evaluate intra-individual and interpersonal changes that occur during adolescence.
CLO 5) Students will explain the nature and implications of psychosocial problems during adolescence.
