Examination of psychological processes of aging involving sensory, sexual, intellectual, and personality changes in later life with some attention to common mental disorders in the aged.
Prereqs: PSY 101 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will evaluate research methods commonly used by developmental psychologist and analyze the scientific method, including its benefits and limitations as applied to adult development and aging research.
CLO 2) Students will examine and explain the different social, cognitive, emotional, behavioral and physical changes that occur as people age.
CLO 3) Students will gain a better understanding of the field of adult development and aging, both historic and current.
CLO 4) Students will apply research knowledge about aging to practical problems faced by older adults.
CLO 5) Students will identify and recognize changes in sensation/perception, health, and cognition as people age.
CLO 6) Students will describe and discuss the various ways that aging can look the same and different across the human experience.
