PSY 255 - Brain & Behavior

Examination of the human nervous system focusing on the central nervous system, the development and function of nerve cells and the relation between the brain and behavior. Topics include motivation, learning, sensation and perception, movement, emotions and brain dysfunction.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will analyze the structure and function of the human nervous system, including the development and function of nerve cells and the central nervous system’s role in behavior.                                      
CLO 2) Students will evaluate the relationships between brain function and specific behaviors, including motivation, learning, sensation and perception, movement, and emotions.                                                           
CLO 3 ) Students will apply principles of biological psychology to explain how sensory and motor systems enable effective functioning in real-world environments.                                                                                                   
CLO 4) Students will summarize their knowledge of biological processes and behavioral correlates to explain brain dysfunction and its impact on human behavior.                                                                                       
CLO 5) Students will assess everyday life experiences using biological terminology and neurobiological principles to demonstrate conversational competency in the field.
