Directed practice in college reading skills; emphasizes word comprehension skills including context clues, dictionary use, and word components as well as paragraph comprehension skills including locating and inferring information. This course does not count toward graduation.
Prereqs: Course required based on assessment test reading scores or RDG 085 with a Pass grade. Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: Hybrid, In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will develop proficient reading skills to enable reading of college level materials.
CLO 2) Students will be able to analyze writing patterns in literature, essays, and other written works to determine how these patterns contribute to meaning and structure.
CLO 3) Students will be able to correctly identify that author’s purpose in a variety of literary and informational texts.
CLO 4) Students can analyze the tone of diverse texts and apply critical-thinking skills to interpret how tone shapes meaning and influences audience response.
