This course prepares surgical technician students to excel in professional healthcare environments by developing competencies in communication, ethics, leadership, and workplace effectiveness. Students will explore the interpersonal, legal, and systemic dynamics of surgical and medical professional practice.
Prereqs: Admission into the Surgical Technology Program Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain key professional practice concepts, professional standards, ethical principles, healthcare communication strategies, and legal requirements in surgical technology.
CLO 2) Students will describe biopsychosocial concepts such as the interconnected psychological, biological, and social factors that influence patient care and professional interactions.
CLO 3) Students will apply risk management principles by implementing patient safety protocols, documentation practices, and professional standards in surgical and medical environments.
CLO 4) Students will interpret organizational structures, team communication protocols, and professional leadership principles of healthcare facility dynamics.
