WLD 205 - Fabrication for Welding

This course combines the critical thinking and hands-on skills required for blueprint reading, metal preparation, measuring, thermal cutting, and welding. Through a final project chosen by the instructor and students, participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate the development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional practice.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will describe the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for utilization in the lab during metal preparation, measuring, thermal cutting, and welding processes.

CLO 2) Students will read and interpret blueprints before and during lab work.

CLO 3) Students will measure, prepare, and properly fit up projects in the lab environment.

CLO 4) Students will describe best practices for preparing various metals for thermal cutting of various metals for projects.

CLO 5) Students will safely and accurately weld the chosen project with visual inspection by the instructor.
