BIO 297 - Biotechnology Internship II 3 Credit(s)
During this second workplace-based course, students have the opportunity to advance their practice of the theories and skills they have learned in the classroom and previous work-based experience, gain additional new competencies, and discover career paths, all while receiving guidance from a faculty member and a seasoned industry professional. Students will actively engage in industry functions, boosting their readiness to enter the field. The course requires a minimum of 45 hours per credit hour of on-site work throughout the term, with supplementary hours as needed.
Prereqs: BIO 296 with a C or higher Course Type: Practicum Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will collaborate with team members in a research or biomanufacturing facility.
CLO 2) Students will perform lab skills used in a research or biomanufacturing facility.
CLO 3) Students will create experimental procedures as part of a collaborative team in a research or biomanufacturing facility.
CLO 4) Students will perform Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and/or current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in a research or biomanufacturing facility.
CLO 5) Students will determine personal pathways for employment and discovery in agriculture, biotechnology, and related fields.
CLO 6) Students will assess the impact these fields have on the local, national, and global society.
