MCH 155 - Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Mill Programming II 3 Credit(s)
CNC Mill Programming II is designed for students aiming to deepen their expertise in CNC machining. This course focuses on the setup and programming of CNC mills using computer software to convert designs into machine code. Students will engage in hands-on projects to manufacture precise three-dimensional parts, emphasizing accuracy and adherence to specified tolerances.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will organize and select tool changers, tool storage, tool offsets, special tooling, and fixturing.
CLO 2) Students will design and create a program to machine a basic part using various Computer software.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in measurement, materials, and safety, meeting the standards required to pass the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification test.
CLO 4) Students will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge on machine setup, tool setting, loading of the program, and machining of the part.
CLO 5) Students will formulate and develop techniques used in diagnosing and correcting a program.
CLO 6) Students will calculate appropriate speeds and feeds for various machining operations.
