HVAC 120 - Heating Systems

Heating systems is a course in theory, operation, and maintenance of residential and industrial heating systems. Students will learn about boilers, forced air furnaces and their operation, disassembly, inspection, and repair. Preventative maintenance procedures and regulations governing maintenance programs are also addressed.

CLO 1) Students will identify the parts of a duct systems.

CLO 2) Students will build a plenum and install a return air drop with filter rack.

CLO 3) Students will perform a test and tune on a furnace to improve reliability and efficiency.

CLO 4) Students will demonstrate proper troubleshooting methods as well as part replacement.

CLO 5) Students will properly calculate duct system size.

CLO 6) Students will properly wire a furnace and accessories.
