This course introduces students to the fundamentals of producing, designing, and directing theatre for youth, with a focus on selecting appropriate literature and understanding current practices in the field. Through this exploration, students will develop essential skills in communication and creativity, while learning to engage young audiences effectively. The course also prepares students to become thoughtful storytellers and leaders, equipping them with the tools to create meaningful theatrical experiences and make a lasting impact as future professionals in education or the arts.

CLO 1) Students will analyze a range of theatre literature (plays and musicals) appropriate for K-12 audiences, identifying themes, age-appropriateness, and educational value.

CLO 3) Students will demonstrate effective directing techniques for youth theatre by planning and leading rehearsals for classroom or community-based performances.
