MAT 098S - Beginning Algebra With Corequisite Pre Algebra 5 Credit(s)
This beginning algebra course is designed for students who want to complete developmental math coursework in one semester. Topics in this course include: simplifying expressions; linear equations and inequalities; graphs of linear equations; writing equations of lines; integer exponent rules; scientific notation; operations on polynomials and rational expressions; factoring; solving quadratic equations by factoring; rational equations; complex fractions; and related applications.
Prereqs: Placement into MAT 098S Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will solve linear equations and inequalities.
CLO 2) Students will construct linear equations and their graphs.
CLO 3) Students will simplify expressions using order of operations and rules for integer exponents including scientific notations.
CLO 4) Students will factor polynomials, including all special product forms.
CLO 5) Students will perform operations on polynomial and rational expressions including complex fractions.
CLO 6) Students will solve quadratic equations (by factoring) and rational equations.
CLO 7) Students will solve application problems.
