BUS 201 - Principles of Management 3 Credit(s)
Presents management and organizational concepts with application to realistic organizational situations. Areas covered include management theory past and present, functions of management, organizational structure (centralization/ decentralization), span of control, motivation theories and practice, together with decision making in daily operations of marketing, production, forecasting, distribution and contemporary issues. Course structured around functions of management planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling.
Prereqs: BUS 101 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will describe the fundamental functions of management-planning, organizing, leading, and controlling-and explain their relevance in modern organizations.
CLO 2) Students will apply key management theories and concepts to analyze organizational problems and decision-making scenarios.
CLO 3) Students will evaluate organizational structures, leadership styles, and communication strategies in various real-world and case-based contexts.
CLO 4) Students will analyze the role of ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability in effective management practices.
CLO 5) Students will interpret and apply motivational and behavioral theories to improve employee performance and organizational outcomes.
