Practical foundation for the design, implementation and management of database systems. Includes the Internet’s impact on how databases are designed, implemented and used.
Prereqs: BTC 103 or CPT 181 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person, Flex Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain why database design is important
CLO 2) Students will recognize what a DBMS is, what it does, and how it fits into the database system
CLO 3) Students will classify data independence and logical views of data
CLO 4) Students will list a relational database model’s basic components
CLO 5) Students will clarify how normalization and modeling are used to produce a good database design
CLO 6) Students will utilize basic SQL commands and functions
