EXS 215 - Weight Management Motivation Assessment & Program Design 2 Credit(s)
Course provides an overview of the principles of weight management including evidence-based program design and interpretation of assessments for various populations as well as explanation of theories of motivation and behavior modification.
Prereqs: EXS 110 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply a fundamental understanding of theories of motivation and behavior change to develop strategies for improving exercise efficacy and adherence and communicate them to clients in an articulate, respectful, and culturally competent manner consistent with professional standards within the field.
CLO 2) Students will explain the fundamental principles of energy balance in order to calculate and interpret energy intake and cost.
CLO 3) Students will conduct evidence-based assessments (anthropometric and body composition).
CLO 4) Students will utilize all client-related, pertinent information to design an evidence-based weight management program appropriate to client needs, goals, and specific limitations to ensure client safety.
