LIT 238 - Horror Fiction 3 Credit(s)
Examination of classic and contemporary writing in order to explore the human fascination with the monstrous, the supernatural, and states of psychological consciousness. Includes the evolution of the horror genre and examine its place in the literary cannon.
Prereqs: ENG 101 or ENG 102 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote, Online Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will examine and discuss how literature enhances self-awareness and cultural appreciation.
2. Students will describe the social, historical, and cultural context from which literature is derived.
3. Students will explain various critical approaches to literature.
4. Students will formulate and defend a personal critical approach to literature using evidence from texts.
5. Students will articulate an informed response to literary texts using the language of the genres.
